Feeling unmotivated and bored in the house during an uncertain time? Nobody is sure when we will find a cure or vaccine, but do not worry, you are not alone! Millions of people are also stuck in their homes in safe sanctuary amidst this pandemic and it is quite obvious people will be bored, feel down and become unproductive. Our lives were very different before, with tons of work, and leisure was like a treat to us. This way of life is very new to all of us, and we are slowly getting used to it. Hence VENTURE, would like to share a few ways to cope with boredom:
1. Learn a new skill or practice old ones! During our busy lives, many of us may have forgotten our old skills and talents, like singing, dancing and playing an instrument. Now, with a lot of free time in hand, you can revive your old talents and become experts on them! If not, then you can learn something new, as we say “we always learn something new every day”! You can utilize your time and learn a new skill and amaze your friends and family. For instance, you all can learn a new language, play an instrument, start cooking, dancing, and singing! How about learning coding?
2. Start the day with yoga and mild exercises. During pandemic the gym is closed, but that does not have to mean you cannot stay healthy. If you feel down, doing yoga and mild exercises can be relaxing, helpful and make you feel lighter and happy.
3. Read books. In this pandemic, increase your knowledge. You can turn your phone off and start reading a book which you like. If you are confused about what to read, search up your favorite genres and find one book which you like, or you can ask your friends for a suggestion. Sitting on the phone all day may be tiring for the brain, a book can be refreshing.
4. Start gardening, make DIYs. Plant a new tree or plant. Water it every day, take care of it, and provide it with sunlight. Once you see the results it will make you feel better. You can also cultivate different kinds of herbs like, tulsi, neem, and coriander leaves at your own home. If gardening seems hard, make tie dye t-shirts with your old clothes. Since during pandemic all shopping malls are closed, you all can spice up old clothes and make brand new ones! Make things out of old cardboard, foams and glasses. Make coasters, DIY flower pots, decorate notebooks, school bags, etc.
5. Start drawing and decorate your room. We all may not be artists, but drawing can help relieve your stress. Brush strokes can be calming to the eyes and at the end you have a beautiful drawing. If you are still bored you can clean up your room and decorate it with your drawings! Make different posters for your room, print out something. It will make you feel happy.
These are only some ways through which you can ease the boredom. We, at VENTURE, tried to select hobbies which were least linked to sitting on the phone. During this time, staying on screen less is very important too. Reading news on the internet may create panic among people, so minimizing screen time is good for you! Engage with nature and surrounding! Stay positive as much as you can and be grateful that at least we all have a roof over us, have food, access to the internet where we can stay in touch with our loved ones. Stay safe and wash your hands. We, at VENTURE, wish you best of luck.
Till then, keep reading our other blogs and leave a comment below. See ya!
